NWIT 2020 nominee

Accountor Finago’s Katja Karhu nominated for the Nordic Women in Tech Awards

Accountor Finago’s Katja Karhu is shortlisted as the Developer of the Year for the Nordic Women in Tech Awards.

From Finland, eight women working in the field of technology are nominated in the Nordic Women in Tech Awards in various categories. Katja Karhu from Accountor Finago is nominated for the Developer of the Year category.

“The fact that my colleague Tiina Perälä nominated me made me feel really good. It was great that a co-worker valued my skills so much that she felt I was a good candidate for this competition. So a big thank you to Tiina! The fact that I got into the shortlist was a big, but of course a nice surprise,” says Katja.

The nomination has not affected Katja's work, as she likes the content of her work and especially coding. Coding financial management programs is, in her view, an interesting and suitably challenging job.

“Accountor Finago has a great atmosphere and team spirit! I have been at Accountor Finago for 8 years, and I would not change my work. Without my co-workers, though, I wouldn't be in this final. At least one thing I’m going to do is pay it forward by following Tiina’s example, so I will be nominating co-workers to similar competitions in the future. We have a really professional team at work,” says Katja.

The Nordic Women in Tech Awards gala rewards women from the Nordic countries who have been successful in various ways each year. The award aims to celebrate women in the IT industry and highlight inspiring role models.

About 200 people were nominated for the award this year, from which five candidates for each award category have been selected for the shortlist. The final winners will be selected on 12.11.2020 in Copenhagen.
