Ministry of Internal Affairs resumes accepting work permit applications and extends visas in view of the coronavirus situation

Earlier we wrote about the stop of accepting applications and issuing work permits and visas. On March 19 in the evening the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia has stated that in view of the current situation:

  • It will extend the term for temporary stay in Russia. To do so, it is necessary to submit to the nearest local office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs an application drawn up in any form;

  • The validity term of visas (regardless of their purpose) and temporary stay (for those who do not require a visa to stay in the country) will be extended even if they have already expired;

  • The Ministry of Internal Affairs resumes accepting applications for authorizations to hire foreign employees and applications for work permits for foreign nationals residing in the Russian Federation;

  • The validity term of temporary resident permits and residence permits held by foreign nationals residing in Russia will be extended;

  • Migrant workers may apply for new patents without having to travel abroad. They will not be brought to liability for missing the document submission deadline.

According to the statement of the ministry applications for documents for new employees from abroad are still not accepted. The current removal of restrictions applies only to those foreigners who are already in Russia.

We carefully monitor the situation and will inform you if if there is any news.
