Which GAAP’s are used in Accounting and Financial reporting in Sweden?

In Sweden you have four GAAP, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. the first one is for Close companies.

  • K2 is a simplified GAAP for smaller companies (under 80 MSEK in revenue). It is not possible to prepare a Group consolidation in accordance to K2.
  • K3 is similar to IFRS SmE. Applies both to legal entities and Group consolidation.
  • K4 is IFRS with adaption to Swedish regulations in legal entities. Applies both to legal entities and Group consolidation.

The ”K” stands for the Swedish word for “category”. Small companies can chose to account and report  in accordance to K3 or K4 but larger companies must apply to either K3 or K4.

Accountor can help with this and other qualified accounting issues.
